Edmonton’s mature neighborhood may have a new set of development rules for infill housing soon. The City of Edmonton have and will discuss new idea and rules in these mature neighborhoods. If the rules passed by the City of Edmonton, and inorder to achieve Edmonton’s Development and Building Permits, owners, builders and designers will need to incorporate at least 3 materials in each street facing facades.
New rules may and will affect the front and side setbacks requirements, rear attached garages, building height and the overall design of the buildings.
Proposed rules summary:
- 3 building materials required for street facing facades
- better building design overall reducing identical homes side by side
- building height increase from 8.6m to 8.9m
- tighter front and sidebacks
- allow attached rear garage construction in the backyard
